Connect Supabase
Supabase keeps your app’s data online, so people sign in and share it. It is free to start, and the project is yours: Mekkapp sets it up, and the rows people add go from the app to your Supabase, never through Mekkapp.
Before you start
Make a free account on supabase.com, and a project in it.
Your app needs sign-in screens to keep its data online. If Settings says it isn’t possible, change the app in words to add them.
Connect it
- Open your app in Mekkapp, then Settings → Data and sign-in.
- Under Where the data is kept, choose Online.
- Press Connect with Supabase, and let Mekkapp into your Supabase account.
- Back in Mekkapp, pick your project under Choose a project, then press Use this project.
- Mekkapp sets up your tables and the sign-in. Settings then says Tables up to date and Sign-in ready.
Two things to set in Supabase
- Under Authentication → URL Configuration, add the two redirect URLs Settings shows. They let the links in your app’s emails open the app.
- Under Authentication → Sign In / Providers, keep Confirm email on. While you test, you can turn it off so a new account works at once.
Before real people sign up
Supabase’s own email sender sends 2 emails an hour, and only to people in your Supabase team. Set up your own sender under Authentication → Emails before you invite anyone else.
Good to know
Mekkapp reads your project’s publishable key, never a secret key. Disconnect, in the same place, revokes Mekkapp’s access to your Supabase account.
When you change your app’s data, Mekkapp says what it changes in the database, and how many rows it touches, before it saves. Nothing is ever removed from your tables.
No Supabase yet? Choose On each phone: each phone keeps its own data.
Not possible yet
- Online data for an app with no sign-in.
- An online database other than Supabase.
